Cape Winelands

Cape Winelands

The Cape Winelands are made up out of three main towns, Paarl, Stellenbosch and Franschhoek. Each of these towns have their own distinctive attractions that will leave the guest enchanted.

Stellenbosch is home to one of South Africa’s top universities, University of Stellenbosch, and is a sure favourite with its great energy, fantastic local community and vast array of sites to visit. The magnificent display of nature in the forms of oak shaded streets, the Jonkershoek Nature Reserve and the Stellenbosch Botanical Gardens, is beautifully complimented with the Cape Dutch architecture and street café’s. The town offers a great nightlife to explore after full day of visiting boutiques, art galleries and wine tasting at some of the most well-known wine farms in South Africa such as Spier.

Your wine tasting experience will continue through to Stellenbosch’s neighbouring town, Paarl, with top farms such as Spice Route, Fairview and KWV. Paarl is home to the Afrikaanse Taalmonument, honouring one of the main languages of South Africa, Afrikaans. The nature is once again showing off with its beautiful display of the mountains, vineyards, nature reserves and Paarl Rock as a definite stop for mountain climbers and hiking trials.

Franschhoek is one of the top tourist attractions in the Cape and offers a selection of café’s and award winning restaurants. Art galleries on every corner, fresh produce markets on the weekends and impeccable views of the Franschhoek Valley from the Mount Rochelle nature reserve and Franschhoek Pass. The distinctive historical presence of the Cape Winelands can also be found in this town with its Cape Dutch architecture and the Huguenot Memorial Museum and neighboring monument in honor of the French Settlers. Wine Farms and tourist attractions can be visited by making use of the Franschhoek Wine Tram, which works on a hop-on, hop-off system with your visit that can be ended off with the Franschhoek Motor Museum on L’Ormarins, which shows a collection of vehicles, motorcycles and bicycles and its evolution through the last 100 years with an incredible vintage and modern car collection.
